Karen Mahan
Fellow in Spiritual Formation
Growing up in Indonesia as a daughter of missionary parents, Karen has always been fascinated by international cultures. As an undergraduate she studied in Freiburg, Germany, before obtaining a BA in political science at U.C. Riverside. After a stint on Capitol Hill with the Ways and Means Committee, she worked as a campus minister at Darmouth College and subsequently Yale. Karen also helped to coordinate student ministries in the Republic of Georgia and Cambridge, England. She currently works with women in the graduate community and has a passion for helping people to integrate Scripture with their daily lives. In keeping with her interest in international students, Karen has especially enjoyed teaching ESL Bible classes for Yale-connected women. Her hobbies include any kind of handcrafting, and producing children’s theater. She is married to David Mahan and they have three children whom she homeschooled for seven years.
