The Rivendell Seminar
The Principles and Practice of Integration
Four Mondays starting February 6
6:00-7:30 pm
At the Rivendell Institute
Light Supper provided!
This four week seminar will investigate the practice of integration.
Rather than simply thinking about its principles in isolation, we
shall articulate a model for integration and then apply that model to the contours of various disciplines.
February 6 Theology of Integration
In this session we will sketch the background of the nature and aim of
integration, grounding it in the nature of the Gospel and in our joint
tasks of witness bearing and image bearing.
February 13 A Model of Integration
In this session we will explore a model of integration that brings the
Gospel into conversation with the methods, assumptions, content and
values of our disciplines and with how our disciplines shape our
culture.
February 20 Applying the Integration Model: Diagnosing your field
The first step in applying the model is to diagnose carefully the
contours of our disciplines. We shall practice our Gospel diagnostics
in a workshop format, learning to discernpoints that need addressing.
February 27 Applying the integration model: Developing strategies to engage your field
After careful diagnosis, we must identify projects, methods, and tools
to apply the resourcesof the Gospel, broadly understood, to our work.
What sorts of research projects do our diagnostics suggest? How can we
think in both the short and long term about taking up strategic
projects?
